JELENKOR FOUNDATION
The main activity of Jelenkor Foundation is the publishing of the monthly literary and art magazine, also titled Jelenkor. The first issue of the review was published in 1958 in Pécs, and since then it is considered to be one of the best Hungarian literary magazines.
After the change of regime it was able to maintain its professional prestige, which is based on an editorial tradition that ignores all other aspects and strives for literary value and quality. Since the 2000s, many more literary and cultural events have taken place under the auspices of the paper in Pécs, and its international relations have expanded significantly in recent years (mainly through the “Review within review” international journal cooperation), making the cultural life of the city known and recognized abroad.
The structure of the publication is usually divided into three blocks: the fiction, study, and critique sections. In addition to its old, well-known authors, the magazine also regularly provides space for beginners. The study and critique column relies heavily on the work of the lecturers and students of the University of Pécs.
